Hello There đź‘‹

The Anti Framework

This Website is served through a service I’m calling Sammo.io, based on “Anti-Framework” principles (a made-up, slightly satirical set of principles I use to describe Web Servers that employ modern JS Framework practices without actually depending on any Frameworks).

This service supports JSX templating and page routing — but otherwise, it’s a pretty braindead web server. It does a couple of other clever things too. It is not a React-based environment. It mostly just exists for Memex to mutate, and for the Author to compose JSX through.

If you find something broken or ugly on this Website, that’s because it is— this Website is super custom, no templates. Quite a experimental piece of software; I’m still working through the kinks.

The Memex

This Website is built and updated through a Memex-like tool of my own design I’m calling Nodessy (or Nodyessy?) — for trademarking purposes.

The tool, at it’s simplest, can be described as a self-hosted authoring platform designed to enable users to self-publish Web-based â€śexperiences”. Right now those â€śexperiences” are simple HTML and MD files, but the theory is that the Memex can string together documents and inject them with enough sophisticated JS to allow for a broader range of experiences (beyond websites). It features a WYSIWYG editor for quickly drafting and publishing markup, and employs what I believe to be a novel node graph navigation paradigm for managing and publishing knowledge.

I wanted to call it something more musical like â€śMotif”. Or, at the very least, I wanted an â€śX” in there to call back to â€śMemex”. But, those terms are hard to trademark. Also, I don’t want the anti-vibes of Twitter’s rebrand following the tool around either. Check out inspo if you care to.

So— Nodessy/Nodyessy. But it’s still a mess. I suppose I’ll track TODO through this platform as well.

There’ll be a Demo available here, once the Memex works well enough to demo.

Sam Carey

If this is going to serve as a resume, I’ll include some information here about professional self. I’m Sam Carey, a Software Developer working at a small company in San Antonio, TX. I’ve been writing React code for about 5 years now. While I do enjoy React, this Website’s architecture is was developed in direct response to everything I hate about React.

Nodessy (I’m liking this spelling more at the moment) will likely be an Inferencing Systems product. That’s the real/fake company I’m developing experimental UIs under. I created it as LLC so that Garmin would give me access to their API. It worked. But, then I grew sort of attached to it, so now it’s the overarching â€śbrand” of my personal work.

So you can reach me at sam@inferencingsystems.com.
